Two-Word Verbs
(Verbos de Dos Palabras)
Hay miles de significados especiales que formamos agregando una o más palabras a un verbo común.
Algo que complica el uso de verbos de dos palabras es que es común separar las palabras -- aún es necesario separarlas cuando usamos pronombres. Voy a incluir aquí ejemplos. Cuando las palabras no se separan, voy a marcarlas con la palabra "NO".
Thousands of words in English are made with a common verb and another word. We call these two-word verbs or because there are sometimes 3 or 4 words, sometimes they are called phrasal verbs.
It is sometimes difficult to recognize these verbs because most of them can be separated by other words. When the verb has an object pronoun, it must be put between the two words. These are called separable two-word verbs. I have given examples below. Some verbs are inseparable two-word verbs. These words are never separated. I have put a red NO after these verbs.
